District Attorney Jim Martin has announced the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force has been awarded its first round of funding as part of the National High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area. In July the county, through the District Attorney’s application, was designated as a member of the Liberty Mid-Atlantic region.
The task force is being awarded $150,000 of FY 2023 discretionary funding from the Office of National Drug Control Policy, which oversees the national HIDTA program. This money will provide great help in the Task Force’s fight against drug trafficking and money laundering operations.
The designation will allow significant resources to come to Lehigh County which will be used to continue the ongoing effort to reduce drug production, drug trafficking and drug-related deaths.
District Attorney Martin thanks the Office of National Drug Control Policy and its Director, Rahul Gupta, MD, for approving this award, and Jeremiah A. Daley, Executive Director of the Liberty Mid-Atlantic HIDTA and its Executive Board, for their help and support in recommending it.
