Fragassi scores four times in win

The Parkland High School field hockey team continued to add on to its win streak and remained undefeated in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference competition, picking up three victories last week, two in conference play and the other game was out of conference.

Through last week’s game the Trojans were 14-1-1 overall and 10-0-1 in the conference and sit just behind Emmaus (16-1, 12-0) for first place in the EPC. They are sporting a six-game win streak.

Last week, Parkland edged Lake-Lehman by one goal, scoring a goal and holding on late to win 1-0 last Monday, Oct. 2, at Parkland High School. The rest of the week, the Trojans got back into conference play with a 13-0 victory on the road at Bethlehem Catholic on Wednesday night and then defeating Stroudsburg 5-1 on Friday afternoon at home.

Rosella Birns found the back of the cage for the game’s only goal, coming on a pass from Aurora Gery to send Parkland to the 1-0 victory.

In the win over the Golden Hawks, eight different Trojans scored, led by a game-high four goals from Elaina Fragassi. Jenna Mayer earned a hat trick with three goals and Lila Temchatin, Maya Zaun, Anna Sensinger, Aimee Kundel, Avrie Arnfeldt and Alana Vasilakos all contributed one goal each to round out the scoring. Fragassi also added an assist to the total.

Against the Mountaineers, Fragassi also led the team in scoring, tallying two goals and an assist. Sensinger totaled one goal and one assist and Temchatin and Mayer both recorded a goal apiece. Gery also finished with two assists. Fragassi leads the team with 26 goals so far this season.

Lexi Pritchard earned the victories in cage for Parkland.

The Trojans have two pivotal conference games this week to conclude the regular season. They played at the Green Hornets this past Tuesday and host Easton on Thursday night.
