Girls soccer team gets to 10-0 in CL

The Northwestern Lehigh girls soccer team has bounced back quite nicely from its only loss of the season to put together three straight wins over Bangor, Wilson, and Upper Perkiomen, who were the state runners-up in the PIAA 3A classification last season.

The three wins up the Tigers record to 10-0-0 in league play and 14-1-0 overall with just the loss to Parkland as a blemish on their season.

While the Tigers have a Colonial League playoff spot waiting for them, their current position as the top team in the league will likely come down to the final league game of the season on Monday when they host Palisades, which is 9-1 in the Colonial.

Should Northwestern and Palisades finish their respective league schedules tied at the top of the standings, the winner of their game would be the regular season champion and get the top seed in the Colonial League playoffs. Saucon Valley (8-2) is still alive to be the number-two seed and technically, Palmerton (8-3) could also sneak into the spot with a lot of help from other teams. The top two seeds have a first-round bye in the league playoffs.

Their current overall record has Northwestern Lehigh as the number-two seed behind Allentown Central Catholic (12-0-1) in the district 2A classification, but teams are awarded seeds for the district tournament with league champions getting preferential spots.
