Eight players score goals in two girls soccer wins

The Emmaus High School girls soccer team continued its win streak with two victories last week with both games against Eastern Pennsylvania Conference opponents. The Green Hornets defeated Northampton on the road last Monday, September 25, and then took down Freedom at home on Wednesday.

Emmaus extended its win streak to four games and had won six of its last seven games overall. The Green Hornets are 11-1-1 overall and 10-1-1 in the conference, behind just undefeated Parkland and Central Catholic.

Against the Kids, five different players found the back of the net, including Vivienne Pinocci-Wrightsman, Morgan Tandy, Lizzie Bender, Gabby Powell and Kam McWhinney.

Emmaus went ahead in the first half on the freshman Bender’s goal as her team took a 3-2 lead into halftime. The Green Hornets added two more insurance goals in the second half to hold on for the 5-2 win.

In the win over the Patriots, Bender, Tandy and Mackenzie Huffer all scored one goal each to provide Emmaus with a 3-0 victory. McWhinney contributed two assists and Sofia Isaksson added one assist in the game.

Emmaus has two road games this week as it traveled to take on East Stroudsburg South in a conference game this past Tuesday. After a couple of days off, the Green Hornets are at Central Dauphin on Saturday morning in a nonconference matchup.
