Oct. 14

Greater Lehigh Valley Writers’ Group will hold “Story Shrink,” a one-day workshop for authors ready to develop three critical elements for marketing a book - synopsis, pitch and logline - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. online via Zoom. Kathryn Craft, developmental editor with WritingPartner.com, will lead the workshop. The morning consists of a half-day intensive session where attendees will learn how to write a synopsis, shrink it down to a pitch, and shrink the pitch down to a one-sentence logline that begs interest. The afternoon will be 15-minute, one-on-one sessions with Craft. Registration is limited to only eight slots for the afternoon session. There is a cost for each session. Fall craft and vendor sale at Church of the Good Shepherd UCC, 235 E. Penn Ave., Alburtis, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Event includes crafts, attic treasures, gift basket auction, baked goods, refreshments and lunch.

Oct. 18

The Emmaus Historical Society program at St. John’s Lutheran Church Parish Hall, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus, 7 p.m. Andrew Kerstetter, board member of the Emmaus Historical Society, will present “Vintage Postcards from Emaus Past, Cards Before Hallmark.” The presentation will showcase postcards from the Emmaus Historical Society collection with photos of local landmarks, business establishments and citizens of Emaus. Postcards gained popularity as greeting cards in the first 30 years of the 20th century which is the era of most of the postcards you will see during this program. Programs are free to the public. Refreshments and snacks are served after the program.

Oct. 22

Upper Milford residents in the Zionsville area of the township are welcome to Light the Night 4-6 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St. The event will feature games, prizes and a free hot dog meal.

Oct. 24

Mike Jesberger, historical re-enactor and lecturer, will present the program “True Story of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and the Headless Horseman” 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Kalmbach Park, 200 Cotton St., Macungie. Seating is limited. Visit the website kalmbachpark.com for details.

Oct. 28

The Upper Milford Youth Association, will host a Halloween Trick or Treat-Fun at the Park event at Lenape Park, 6102 Kings Highway South, Zionsville, starting 3 p.m. Highlights will include a decorating contest, a 50/50 raffle, games, food and prizes.

Oct. 31

Trick or treaters will visit residents 6-8 p.m. in Upper Milford Township. Please be mindful of these holiday revelers and their entourages as you make your way along roads in the township.

Nov. 1

The Macungie Institute, 510 E. Main St., Macungie, will host a wine and cheese gathering 6:30 p.m. There is a cost for tickets and space is limited. Tickets area available at the institute 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays. Ticket purchase is by check.

Nov. 11

Old Zionsville United Church of Christ, 5981 Fountain Road, Old Zionsville, will hold its 26th annual Bazaar & Filled Basket Auction 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come browse through the crafters and vendors, check out the auction baskets and buy tickets for a chance to win your favorites. And remember to check out the bake sale. The kitchen will be selling light refreshment for takeout.

Dec. 4

A free holiday luncheon for Macungie borough residents 70 years and older will be held at the Macungie Institute, 510 E. Main St. Seating is limited and reservations must be made by Nov. 3. Call 610-966-7830 to RSVP.
