The Emmaus girls cross country team remained unbeaten this season by going 3-0 last week in a multi-team meet at Pocono Mountain East.

The Hornets beat the hosts 15-50 and won by the same scores against Pocono Mountain West and Pleasant Valley to improve to 9-0 this season.

Mady McCartney led the way again with a first-place overall finish as Emmaus runners occupied seven of the first eight places. Payton Campbell finished third overall, followed by teammates Brooke Miller, Addison Johnson and Sophia Kovalski.

The Emmaus boys team also beat Pocono Mountain East, Pocono Mountain West and Pleasant Valley all by 15-50 scores.

The Emmaus boys team was led by Ryan Fach, who finished in second place overall with teammates Connor Fisher and Jared Petre right behind him. Richard Will placed sixth overall and Sean Daubert rounded out the Hornets’ top five.

Central Catholic’s Duke Ebert won the boys race by finishing in 17:26, one second before Fach.

The Emmaus girls team swept Nazareth, Northampton and Easton in an Eastern Pennsylvania Conference multi-team meet on Sept. 19. The Hornet boys team suffered its first loss of the season at that meet, falling to Easton while beating Nazareth and Northampton.

In the girls race, Emmaus runners were the first four to cross the finish line as McCartney took first place in 20:19, followed by teammates Campbell, Johnson and Miller. Kovalski rounded out the Emmaus top five with a seventh-place overall finish.

Emmaus beat Nazareth and Northampton by identical scores of 15-49, while beating Easton 17-38.

In the boys race, the Hornets (8-1) beat Northampton 15-50 and topped Nazareth 26-31 but fell to Easton 24-33.

Fisher finished second overall to lead Emmaus, while Petre (6th), Tyler Finck (9th), Will (13th) and Connor Miller (14th) also ran in the Hornets’ top five at the race, which was held Tuesday, Sept. 19 at Whitehall Parkway.
