Susan C. Eick, 73, of Macungie, died Oct. 2, 2023, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous 10-year battle with cancer. She was the devoted wife of Richard C. Eick, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage. Born in Patterson, N.J., she was the daughter of the late John and Claire (Fox) Santhouse and grew up in Wyckoff, N.J.

She attended St. Mary’s Nursing school to become a registered nurse and later attended San Diego State University and graduated summa cum laude with her bachelor’s degree in psychology.

She worked first as a nurse at various facilities and later as a cancer care coordinator for Scripps Memorial Hospital, San Diego, Calif.

She was an active volunteer for the American Cancer Society in San Diego, Calif., where she led a breast cancer support group for years. She was the recipient of the Susan G. Komen Award during this time. However, her proudest achievement was being an amazing mother and devoted grandmother.

In her spare time, she enjoyed decorating and creating window treatments for family and friends. She loved to travel and spend time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband; daughters, Katie E. and her husband, Brad Jeanes, of Schnecksville, Kelly C., of Hatfield; grandchildren, Dylan Jeanes and Emma Jeanes. She was predeceased by a brother, John Santhouse Jr. and her beloved dog Emmett, who never left her side.
