State senator reads to kids at library

State Sen. Nick Miller, D-14th, took time out of his busy schedule to spend time reading to youngsters Aug. 30 at Whitehall Township Public Library, 3700 Mechanicsville Road.

The children were captivated as Miller read several children’s books. The youths attending the event enjoyed the reading and their time at the library.

Miller’s interest in serving children and their families began years ago. He began his political career serving the Allentown School District’s board in 2019, citing a need to have younger people and increasing the age diversity. His experience serving the Allentown School District, as a member and vice president of the board, taught Miller the state plays a significant role in funding public schools and the success of local schools, he said.

The complicated needs of a school district needed more support in Harrisburg, he said, noting this was one of the issues that inspired him to seek higher office.

Miller was sworn into office in January 2023. He is 28 years old and one of the youngest state senators in Pennsylvania history.
