Norma Steckel, 96, of Allentown, died peacefully Oct. 5, 2023. She was the loving wife of the late Harry Steckel with whom she shared 46 years of marriage. She was the youngest daughter of the late Henry and Carrie (Ricker) Bartholomew, of Fullerton.

She was a member of Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church, Allentown.

A Whitehall High School graduate, she obtained her teaching degree at East Stroudsburg Teachers College. She taught English and physical education at William Allen High School and was a reading tutor at Louis E. Dieruff High School.

Her passions included crossword puzzles, walks with Tasha and win or lose, rooting for the Phillies. Most importantly, she treasured time with family. Her kindness, wit, quiet strength and loving, generous spirit will be missed.

She is survived by a daughter, Susan; sons, Scott and Timothy; grandchildren, Eric, Matthew and Paige. She was predeceased by sister, Eve Renninger and brother, Philip Bartholomew.

Calling hours will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 11 in the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus. A private Christian burial service will be held Oct. 12 in Western Salisbury Cemetery, Allentown. Arrangements were made by the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C. Emmaus
