Jeffrey Allen Mertz, 69, of Moore Township, died Oct. 2, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg campus, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Kathleen L. (Croyle) Mertz for 44 years.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Reuben and Ethel (Benner) Mertz.

He was a 1972 graduate of Whitehall High School.

He was a gas and fuel inspector for the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation. He then worked in custodial services and maintenance department for Northampton Area School District.

He was a member of Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bath.

He was a social member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7293, Egypt.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Amanda M. Yost of Bethlehem; a son, Ryan A. of Bethlehem; a granddaughter, Alyvia Yost; a brother, Barry and wife Jacqueline of Limington, Maine; and three nieces.
