Coplay: Dinner scheduled for Oct. 14

St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St., is holding a dinner 4-6 p.m. Oct. 14 in the social hall. The menu includes either a turkey dinner or a pork and sauerkraut dinner.

There is a cost. There will be a basket raffle to benefit the Altar and Rosary Society.

Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., will hold its Weinlesefest (grape dance) 3-6 p.m. Oct. 15.

There will be a special selection of wines, delicious food, wine-themed singalongs, door prizes and great music. Entertainment will be provided by the Emil Schanta Band.

Wear your German outfits, such as dirndl, lederhosen, vests, hats, etc.

There is a cost.

The annual Coplay Halloween parade is set for 7 p.m. Oct. 17.

Hans Peter Doskozil, the governor of Burgenland, Austria, and other Austrian governmental representatives will visit the Coplay Saengerbund 7 p.m. Oct. 20.

All local descendants of Burgenland, Austria, or anyone interested in the visit are invited to come and meet the visitors. Doskozil wants to meet Lehigh Valley Burgenlander descendants. There will be music, singing, snacks and homemade baked goods.

There is no charge for the event, and it is open to all.

St. Peter’s is holding a St. Martin’s Feast Day strudel sale. The deadline to order is Oct. 23.

Coplay Garden Club meets 7 p.m. Oct. 26 in the social hall at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St.

A tip of the month is, “Begin now preparing your soil with mulch and other nutrients for the 2024 growing season.”

St. John’s Lutheran Church will be holding a drive-thru shepherd’s pie dinner 4-5:30 p.m. Oct. 28.

The menu includes shepherd’s pie, creamed cabbage, applesauce or fruit cup, roll and dessert. Preorders are required. Call Karen at 610-653-2816 to order by Oct. 20.

St. John’s is planning to hold a youth Halloween party 9 a.m. Oct. 29 in the social hall. Learn how Halloween traditions grew, sing pumpkin songs, play fun games, make a craft and have snacks.

The event is open to Sunday school members and their friends, no matter if they are church members or not.

St. Peter’s is holding a Wine on the Rock wine tasting festival 6-9 p.m. Nov. 4 in the church hall. Taste great local wines, delicious foods and more.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.

Aerobic exercise is held 8:45 a.m. Saturdays and 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at Coplay Borough Hall, 98 S. Fourth St. A small fee is charged for the session.
