Nagle reaches milestone in win over Bombers

Records and milestones are being set this fall in various sports at Northwestern Lehigh. While much of the action is still going on outside of school walls, girls volleyball is inside and battling for a league playoff spot.

Senior libero Kylie Nagle reached the 1,000-dig plateau in a straight set sweep of Palmerton, finishing the game with a total of 1,001 digs in her time at Northwestern Lehigh. In the next match against Pen Argyl, Nagle had another phenomenal game, pushing her career digs to 1,021 with seven regular season games and playoffs still to come. Against Pen Argyl, Nagle also had five aces.

In the win over Palmerton, Norah Silfies had eight kills, two blocks, and three aces. Shannon Green had three aces and 15 assists in the win over the Lady Bombers.

Green has been playing well at the setter position. In the two wins, she dished out 41 assists and had six digs against Pen Argyl. Junior outside hitter Bailey Murray had a big game against Pen Argyl when she picked up 11 kills to go with two blocks in the straight set win.

In league play, Northwestern is 6-2, leaving them just behind Notre Dame Green Pond (6-1) for the final playoff spot with Southern Lehigh (8-0) holding down the top spot in the league standings. To reach the district bracket, the Lady Tigers are 7-6 overall and are in position to pick up a spot in the District 11 postseason.

The next week will be a busy one for Northwestern. The key match is Monday at Notre Dame Green Pond (6-1 Colonial, 8-1), who defeated the Lady Tigers earlier in the season. Before that, they travel to Blue Mountain (8-3) to meet up with the Eagles. The schedule then has a match at Allen (2-9) for a nonleague matchup and they return home against Saucon Valley (4-3, 4-5) to finish a string of three matches in three days.
