The Emmaus girls tennis team went 3-0 in East Penn Conference matches last week and 3-1 overall.
Emmaus dropped a nonleague match against Blue Mountain last Monday, Sept. 28 to start a stretch of four matches in four days. The Hornets bounced back with wins over Whitehall, Freedom and East Stroudsburg North.
In 7-0 win over East Stroudsburg North last Thursday, the Hornets’ Natalie Marks, Ava Saab and Sophia Kaufman won singles matches. Cece Coleman and Josey Jackson won the first doubles match. Natalie Hillegass and Brooke DiGiacomo won the second doubles match. Gabby Tranguch and Malena Stetz took the third doubles match and Kylie Gleason and Anshi Kanani won the fourth doubles match.
In a 5-2 win over Freedom, Marks won the No. 3 singles match, while the doubles teams of Tranguch/Stetz, Saab/Kaufman, Jackson/Coleman and Hillegass/DiGiacomo won doubles matches.
Emmaus beat Whitehall 6-1 Saab and Kaufman won singles matches, while the doubles teams came up with four points as the teams of Coleman/Jackson, Hillegass/DiGiacomo, Tranguch/Stetz and Kirra Everett/Sydney Stuckey won matches.
Blue Mountain swept the singles matches in a 4-3 win. In doubles action, Saab/Stetz won the No. 1 doubles match. Coleman/Jackson took the No. 2 doubles match and Hillegass/DiGiacomo won the third doubles match.
The Hornets were 12-5 overall this season heading into Tuesday’s final match of the regular season. Emmaus is in fifth place in the District 11 Class 3A rankings and will likely remain the fifth seed for team districts no matter the outcome of Tuesday’s match against unbeaten Parkland.
