Steven H. Porter, 79, of Ormrod, North Whitehall Township, died Sept. 30, 2023, in Lehigh Commons, Lower Macungie Township.
He and his wife, Sarah V. “Sally” (Moore) Porte, were married 32 years.
Born June 6, 1944, in Palmerton, Carbon County, he was the son of the late Herbert and Marion (Herring) Porter.
He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War earning the rank of sergeant.
He was a meteorologist for the National Weather Service at Lehigh Valley Airport (ABE) for 33 years.
He also worked for Pitt-Ohio Trucking Company as a truck driver, dispatcher and dock worker for 27 years before retiring in 2018
He was a member of Egypt Community Church, Whitehall.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by daughters Christine Philhower, and Gillian Porter; stepchildren Robert J. Umenhofer, Bonnie M. McElhinny and Richard J. Umenhofer; and grandchildren Sean, Adam, Lindsay, Mitchell and Katherine.
He was predeceased by a brother, John Porter.
Funeral services with military honors will be 11 a.m. Oct. 7 in Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with the Rev. Dr. J. Bradley Roth officiating.
Family and friends may pay their respects 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Private interment at Egypt Cemetery, Whitehall.
