The Whitehall Zephyrs visited the undefeated Parkland Trojans last week and lost in a mercy rule game, 36-7, on Sept. 29.
Whitehall had a tough first quarter with two penalties called against the Zephyrs on their opening drive and a total of four penalties in the first 12 minutes.
Meanwhile, Parkland running back Trey Tremba scored both Trojan touchdowns, also in the first quarter, and Aidan Gallagher kicked the extra points.
Whitehall’s 15-play drive in the second quarter fell short of points on a missed 34-yard field goal.
The Zephyrs had another chance later in the quarter when Whitehall quarterback Trey Dogmanits (131 passing yards) completed a pass to Kaden Weaver on fourth-and-11, but Dogmanits was eventually intercepted by Jendel Sanchez 20 seconds before halftime.
Whitehall suffered another blow when Tremba went 80 yards for the Trojans’ third touchdown of the night. Luke Spang’s 36-yard pass to Connor Johns 60 seconds later put the game in mercy rule and a running clock went into effect.
Mercy-ruled but not shut out, he Zephyrs points came in the fourth quarter on a 15-yard touchdown run by Carter Troxell (55 rushing yards), and Andrew Deutsch kicked the extra point.
Jack Kocher had 65 receiving yards for the Zephyrs.
This week, Whitehall will host Nazareth on Oct. 6.
