Fall fun

With the arrival of the autumn season, outdoor family activities are on the rise throughout the area.

Fall Fest will be held 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 7 in the 300 block of Front Street in Catasauqua Borough. Bring a lawn chair to enjoy live music by Glen Longenhagen 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and Tavern Tan Duo 1-3 p.m. There will be free hayrides, pumpkin decorating, cornhole and other games, face painting, food and various vendors.

Participating businesses include Blocker’s Coffeehouse, Blondies, Gas House Dance Hall, Melvin’s Farm Stand and Crown Bicycle.

The North Catasauqua Betterment Committee presents its 16th annual Best of North Catasauqua Autumnfest. The event will be 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 8 at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St. The rain date is Oct. 14.

There will be a food court, craft and flea market, games, police and fire department displays, pumpkin decorating, horseback riding for kids and more. Flirtin’ with the Mob will perform music 1-4 p.m., sponsored by Brubaker Funeral Home.

The car show entry fee is discounted if registered in advance. Registration forms are available at borough hall, 1066 Fourth St., North Catasauqua.

The Catasauqua/North Catasauqua Halloween parade is scheduled for 6 p.m. Oct. 18, with an expected rain date of Oct. 25.

Catasauqua Police Department is holding a trunk or treat 5-7 p.m. Oct. 25 at Catasauqua Park and Playground, 501 American St. Come decorate your vehicle and hand out candy. It is free to register, and setup begins 4 p.m. The rain date is Oct. 26.

Trick or treat will be held 6-8 p.m. Oct. 27 in Hanover Township, Lehigh County, as well as 6-8 p.m. Oct. 28 in Catasauqua and North Catasauqua boroughs.

Whitehall Fire Department continues its annual Haunted Parkway tradition. The event is held 7-11 p.m. every Friday and Saturday in October at the Whitehall Parkway, South Church Street. Kids ages 5 and under attend for free. The event is cash only. Refreshments and free parking are available.

Haunted Parkway’s trick or treat and scare-free hayride will take place 4-6 p.m. Oct. 7. Children and adults are invited to arrive in costume and bring bags, buckets or baskets for Halloween candy.

Coplay Borough’s Halloween parade will be held 7 p.m. Oct. 17 starting on Chestnut Street and ending at Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St.

Ironton Rail Trail Oversight Commission is hosting a free fall historical walk Oct. 21, starting 9 a.m. The event begins at the red barn in the Chestnut Street area of Whitehall Parkway. No registration is required.

Whitehall Township will hold its Halloween parade 7 p.m. Oct. 26. The parade will travel from the parking lot of At Home, 2520 MacArthur Road, continuing on Schadt Avenue and ending on the Whitehall-Coplay School District campus. Prizes will be awarded.

After the parade, the annual bonfire will begin near the WCSD football stadium. Entertainment will be provided by Crippled Moonshine. There will be a number of food trucks in the Schadt Avenue Playground parking lot.

Trick or treat will be held 6-8 p.m. Oct. 27 in Coplay Borough and Whitehall Township.

Moore Township Historical Commission is planning its annual Octoberfest for 5 p.m. Oct. 12 at Klecknersville Rangers Volunteer Fire Company, 2718 Mountain View Drive.

The annual Bath mayor’s community campfire will be held 7-10 p.m. Oct. 14 at Firefighter Park, 300 N. Chestnut St. There will be hayrides, refreshments courtesy of local Cub and Girl Scouts and entertainment by Uncle Smiley.

Bath Borough is holding its Halloween parade 7 p.m. Oct. 17, with a rain date of Oct. 18.

The Jack Frost parade in Northampton Borough will be 7 p.m. Oct. 19, with a rain date of Oct. 26.

Trick or treat will be held 6-8 p.m. Oct. 27 in East Allen and Lehigh townships and 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31 in Allen and Moore townships and Bath and Northampton boroughs. East Allen’s rain date is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Oct. 28, and Lehigh’s rain date will be 5-7 p.m. Oct. 29.

Traditionally, scarecrows are placed throughout the borough in time for Fest ‘o Fall. That event will not be held this year; however, a Fall Fest is planned for Oct. 7 in the 300 block of Front Street.
