Help support the Allentown Central Catholic High School boys basketball team by enjoying some Chipotle 4-8 p.m. Oct. 4, at 3114 W Tilghman St., Allentown – 33% of proceeds will benefit the basketball team. Free basketball clinics will be offered to boys in seventh to ninth grades this fall for athletes to improve their skills. The clinics will run 7-8:30 p.m. Oct. 11, 19 and 26 in Rockne Hall, 301 N. The Viking cross-country team recently participated in meets against area high schools, as the girls defeated Nazareth and Northampton, but lost to Easton and the boys defeated Northampton and fell to Easton and Nazareth.
The boys soccer team defeated Easton 5-2 and East Stroudsburg South 4-0.
The Vikette volleyball team triumphed against Liberty after four exciting sets. The girls soccer team earned another victory by defeating Stroudsburg 2-0 Sept. 26.
The Vikette tennis team headed to the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference competition last week and emerged with many successes. Tori Temple and Cat Grubb took second place, Catharine D’Agostini and Claire Ehrlich secured a third-place finish and Ellie Sweterlitsch and Maggie Lynch also earned third place.
The Morning Call also recently nominated Vikette tennis player Genesis Almadovar for Athlete of the Week, after she won her singles match facing Saucon Valley 6-0.
The ACCHS football team continues to persevere this season, even after tough losses to Parkland Sept. 22 and Nazareth Sept. 29. The Vikings will travel to play Liberty 7 p.m. Oct. 6 at Bethlehem Area School District Stadium, 1115 Linden St. Bethlehem.
The next week they will meet Whitehall 7 p.m. Oct. 14 at J. Birney Crum Stadium, 2027 Linden St., Allentown.
The girls soccer team will celebrate senior night 5:15 p.m. Oct. 5 at Twin Lakes, with their game starting 5:30 p.m.
The volleyball team will honor their seniors 6:15 p.m. Oct. 11, followed by a 6:30 p.m. game time.
The football team’s senior night will occur prior to their final regular season game 7 p.m. Oct. 27.
We will also honor our fabulous band and color guard Oct. 27.
Please come congratulate the Class of 2024 and all their accomplishments at these fall senior nights.
Viking Nation celebrated Homecoming weekend Sept. 22 and 23. The fun began with a pep rally Sept. 22, followed by the Homecoming football game that night against Parkland.
The Homecoming Dance was held Sept. 23 in Rockne Hall. The 2023 Homecoming Court featured Molly Driscoll, Patrick McMurtrie, Isabel Kehoe-Huck, Benjamin Keenan, Abbey Kofroth, John Peters, Anna Edwards, Richie Koehler, Montana Nagle, Naquon Godfrey, Catherine Grubb and Nathan Schultz. Ben Keenan and Molly Driscoll were crowned the 2023 Homecoming King and Queen at the dance.
The school will be closed Oct. 6-9 for the Columbus Day holiday.
Yearbooks are now available for pickup. Any Class of 2023 alumni may collect their yearbook Oct. 6 in Masson Auditorium. Please enter through the Masson doors to pick it up. More pickup dates will be announced in November and December if students are unable to attend this one.

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test will be administered for grades 9-11 Oct. 11 and all students will have their school pictures taken that afternoon. To prepay for your school picture order, visit orders.christmascitystudio.com and give your school code ACCHS23. The prepay ends at midnight of picture day and orders placed after prepay may include shipping costs.
Seniors must schedule their senior portraits with Christmas City Studio directly so their photo will be published in the 2023-2024 ACCHS yearbook.
Oct. 20 will be a casual spirit day for any student that donated five or more items to the Central City Project Food Pantry during Homecoming Spirit Week. Please remember to follow all casual spirit day rules outlined in the student handbook.
The Class of 2026 Sophomore Retreat will occur 8 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Padre Pio Shrine in Barto. Students will learn about his life, faith stories and lasting impact on the church. The retreat will include Mass at the Spirituality Center and a visit to the Our Lady of Grace Chapel, which is a historically correct Franciscan building modeled after the church Padre Pio worshipped in. The shrine houses the largest collection of Padre Pio relics in the United States in their museum and cultural center. Retreatants should bring their own lunch and money for the gift shop. Niche recently named Allentown Central Catholic as the Lehigh Valley Area’s 2024 Best Catholic High School. Central also earned the No. 1 spot for most diverse private high school, best school for athletes in the Lehigh Valley and top honors for best college prep and STEM curriculum.
This year’s annual Viking Christmas event will be 1-5 p.m. Nov. 12 in Rockne Hall. The sale will feature countless ACCHS gear and apparel items, making great Christmas gifts for your family. Funds will help the school’s clubs, sports and activities.
The Viking 5K will be Oct. 29 and support the ACCHS Central City Project. The 5K’s route will surround J. Birney Crum Stadium, 2027 Linden St. Allentown. Registration and number pickup begins 11 a.m. outside the stadium’s southwest entrance.
The one mile fun run/walk commences 1 p.m. followed by the 5K 1:30 p.m. The race will feature timed results, a clock at the finish line and refreshments following. The event will occur rain or shine, but no refunds or mailed awards will be offered. Participants will receive awards for an overall first place male/female finish or for finishing in the top three males/females in their age group.
The age groups will be 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+. Participants of all ages are welcome to walk or run the fun one mile race. Register for the 5K by Oct. 15 for a discounted price and receive a guaranteed shirt, but registration will still be open after Oct. 15 (and a shirt while supplies last).
