Coplay: Castaways scheduled to perform Oct. 6
Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., Friday night concerts are winding down.
The Castaways will perform 6-10 p.m. Oct. 6.
The doors and kitchen open 5 p.m.

Coplay Saengerbund will be holding its Weinlesefest (grape dance) 3-6 p.m. Oct. 15. There will be a special selection of wines, delicious food, wine-themed singalongs, door prizes and great music. Entertainment will be provided by the Emil Schanta Band.
Wear your German outfits, such as dirndl, lederhosen, vests, hats, etc.
There is a cost.

The Coplay Halloween parade is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 17.

Reminder: Coplay Public Library, 49 S. Fifth St., will hold its fall book and bake sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 6 and 7. Thousands of books, DVDs, CDs and puzzles are looking for a good home!
Baked good donations are also accepted and appreciated.
The library also has shopping passes for Boscov’s Friends Helping Friends available. There is a cost for the pass, which you can use Oct. 18, and 100% of this donation goes to the library. The pass gives you a 25% discount on your in-store purchases (exclusions apply).
You will also be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $100 Boscov’s gift card.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St., is holding a shepherd’s pie drive-thru pickup dinner, planned for 4-5:30 p.m. Oct. 28.
The menu includes shepherd’s pie, creamed cabbage, applesauce or fruit cup, roll and dessert.
Preorders are required. Call Karen at 610-653-2816 to order. The deadline to order is Oct. 20.

St. John’s Lutheran Church will be holding a youth Halloween party, set for 9 a.m. Oct. 29 in the social hall.
Learn how Halloween traditions grew, sing pumpkin songs, play fun games, make a craft and have snacks.
The event is open to Sunday school members and their friends, no matter if they are church members or not.

Hans Peter Doskozil, the governor of Burgenland, Austria, and other Austrian governmental representatives will visit the Coplay Saengerbund 7 p.m. Oct. 20.
All local descendants of Burgenland, Austria, or anyone interested in the visit are invited to come and meet the visitors. Doskozil wants to meet Lehigh Valley Burgenlander descendants.
There will be music, singing, snacks and homemade baked goods.
There is no charge for the event.

Explorer Post 101’s mission is to promote interest in the hobby of model railroading to 12- to 21-year-olds. Meetings are 7-9 p.m. every Thursday on the second floor of the municipal building, 98 S. Fourth St.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month. If unable to attend the scheduled time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.
The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.
