Commissioners to vote on grant applications

At the Oct. 2 workshop meeting, the Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners discussed two grant applications.

Resolution 3280 proposes applying for a grant to purchase three automated external defibrillators, or AEDs. The commissioners previously approved the purchase of 39 AEDs, devices used to help people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.

The cost for the AEDs totals $53,561. The board approved the purchase at its meeting last month. This grant will hopefully provide an additional three devices for the township.

Resolution 3283, if approved, will allow the township to apply for a grant to get the fire department a foam trailer. Firefighting foam is typically used in fuel, oil and gasoline fires.

At the next meeting, the commissioners are also expected to vote on two reappointments to the township recreation commission and set trick-or-treat night. The township’s online calendar currently lists the date as Oct. 27.

The commissioners will next meet 7 p.m. Oct. 9 in the municipal building, 3219 MacArthur Road.
