Career, business teacher recognized as distinguished educator

At the Sept. 12 Catasauqua Area School District Board of Education meeting, Melissa Inselmann, director of curriculum and advancement, commended the efforts of Catasauqua High School career and business teacher Jonathan Kiefer.

Kiefer has been recognized as a distinguished educator by Next Gen Personal Finance, a national nonprofit organization. Kiefer was recognized for his outstanding commitment to professional development in real-world personal finance topics.

To achieve this recognition, Kiefer has earned six NGPF certifications in banking and budgeting, career, credit, investing, paying for college and psychology of money. Each of these courses required nine hours of live, collaborative coursework and a one-hour certification exam.

Kiefer will receive a distinguished educator of personal finance award plaque and an exclusive email badge.

Kiefer is not planning on stopping his education. He intends to complete all 13 NGPF courses. The remaining courses are behavioral economics, behavioral finance, consumer skills, cryptocurrency basics, insurance, advanced investing and taxes.

“Congratulations to Jon for his incredible dedication to professional development on these personal finance concepts and the valuable impact it will have on his classroom instruction,” Inselmann said.
