NORTHSIDE ALIVE SCHOOL SUPPLIES DRIVE: Northside Alive will be collecting school supplies at its Yoga in the Park events. The Yoga Loft of Bethlehem will hold free morning yoga sessions at Johnston Park. If staying for yoga, please bring a mat, towel and water bottle. During the sessions, you can drop off the following items for donation to schools in our community: Black Expo Dry Erase Markers, #2 pencils, plain pocket folders, crayons, colored pencils, pencil erasers, tissues, hand sanitizer and headphones. Next session will be held Oct. 21 from 10 to 11 a.m.

BETHLEHEM AREA SD

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Grace Daja is in grade 12 at Liberty HS. Grace serves as the Student Representative to the BASD School Board. She is president of the PJAS, captain of the chess team, vice president of FBLA, Model U.N. treasurer and NHS homework club committee leader. She is also heavily involved in the band and orchestra, a member of the 1st company and jazz ensemble. She is a member of the tennis team, student government, Scholastic Scrimmage and is a Girl Scout.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT: Diane Winkle is a dining services satellite team member. Ms. Winkle prepares breakfast, lunch and snacks for students every day with a smile. She is a true asset to the team. Ms. Winkle is celebrating 30 years with BASD Dining Services.

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: Raymond Santiago, Liberty HS class of 2007. Raymond is currently employed as the executive director of the Hispanic Center of the Lehigh Valley.

HALF DAY, CLOSED DAY: All BASD schools EXCEPT East Hills MS will have a half day on Thursday, Oct. 5. East Hills MS students will have an asynchronous learning day at home. High schools will dismiss at 11 a.m. Middle schools will dismiss at 11:30 a.m., and Elementary schools will dismiss at noon. All BASD schools will be closed Oct. 9. Childcare and offices will be open.

BASD IS HIRING: For open positions, visit basdschools.org. Aramark, the district’s food service provider, is also hiring.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

NEW PRINCIPAL AT GOVERNOR WOLF ES: The Educational Programs Office would like to congratulate and welcome Amy Santanasto on her new role of principal at Govenor Wolf ES.

FRUIT/VEGETABLE DISTRIBUTION: BASD and the Bethlehem Food Co-op will offer free fresh fruits and vegetables at Thomas Jefferson ES on Oct. 10 and Nov. 7 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

SPRING GARDEN ES PANERA NIGHT: Panera at 3301 Bath Pike. 20 percent of your purchase will go to the Spring Garden ES PTO. Oct. 12, 4-8 p.m.

BETHLEHEM CATHOLIC

CLOSED: No school for Students on Monday Oct. 9.

CHARTER ARTS HS

NO SCHOOL: Charter Arts will be closed on Monday Oct. 9.

THE BROKEN WINDOW PERFORMANCE: Charter Arts Theatre will present Diane Wagner’s “The Broken Window” from Oct. 20 to 22. Visit charterarts.org for tickets and times.

LV DUAL LANGUAGE CHARTER SCHOOL

NO SCHOOL: School will be closed Oct. 9.

MORAVIAN ACADEMY

FALL BREAK: All Moravian Academy schools will be closed on Oct. 9 and 10 for Fall Break.

MORAVIAN COUNTRY FAIR: Moravian Academy is hosting the 2023 annual Country Fair Oct. 14, at the Merle-Smith Campus from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will offer tons of fun for everyone. Featuring main stage performers, food trucks, craft/market vendors, goat yoga (preregistration required), escape rooms, rock climbing wall, ice cream truck, big wheel racing, laser tag and more.

HOLY INFANCY SCHOOL

SCHOOL CLOSED: No school Oct. 9.
