The Emmaus golf team pulled out a 420-426 win over Parkland last Thursday.
The Hornets’ Noah Schurman led the effort with a 7-over par 78 at Brookside Country Club. Evan Walters (82), Zach Yenawine (85), Andrew Kleist (86) and Karson Krasley (89) made up the Emmaus team score in the match. Parkland’s best score came from Landen Benner (81) with teammates Mujtaba Jaffer (83), AJ Sundstrom (86), Chloe Chase (88) and Jake Posocco (88) rounding out the team score.
The win improved Emmaus to 12-2 this season with two matches left on the schedule. The Hornets entered the week as the fifth team in the District 11 rankings and will need to move up at least one place to earn a spot in the District 11 team championships.
Northampton (16-0) is the top team in the district, followed by Nazareth (15-1), Southern Lehigh (13-0) and Blue Mountain (13-2).
The Hornets’ Sept. 20 nonleague match against Southern Lehigh could be pivotal in determining which teams earn the final two places behind the K-Kids and Blue Eagles.
Emmaus finishes the regular season Sept. 21 against Freedom.
The East Penn Conference Championships were held Monday. See next week’s Press for results of that event.
The District 11 Qualifying Tournament is slated for Tuesday, Sept. 26 at Olde Homestead. The District 11 individual and team championships will be held a week later, Tuesday, Oct. 3 at Steel Club.
