The Parkland cross country teams opened the season last week by going 3-0 at their first East Penn Conference regular season meet.
The Parkland boys team took the first eight places in the race to beat Pocono Mountain East, Pocono Mountain West and Pleasant Valley each by a 15-50 score. The Trojan girls team had the first three runners across the finish line to beat PM East and Pleasant Valley each 15-50 and PM West 20-43.
Defending District 11 champ Paul Abeln took first place in 17:19.7 with teammates Ethan Willard, Jorge Rinker, Colin McGuigan and Jacob Barnes rounding out the scoring for Parkland.
Lana Hurwitz, another Trojan defending district champ, placed first in the girls race in 20:28.0. Gracie Trexler and Lucy Tobia finished second and third, respectively. Harshita Rajeshkumar Keerthi finished fifth overall and Madelyn Kruk was the Trojans’ fifth scorer in eight place overall.
