Hornet XC teams go 3-0 in first meet

The Emmaus cross country teams both went 3-0 in their first meet of the East Penn Conference regular season.

The Hornet girls team beat Bethlehem Catholic 15-50, Liberty 15-50 and Freedom 22-39 in a meet hosted by Freedom last Tuesday. The Emmaus boys team won 19-43 against the Golden Hawks, 15-47 against the Hurricanes and 26-31 versus the host Patriots.

Mady McCartney won the girls race in 19:42, nine seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Payton Campbell (3rd), Addison Johnson (5th), Sophia Kovalski (6th) and Brooke Miller (7th) rounded out the Emmaus top five at the meet. Nine of the top 11 finishers were Hornet runners.

In the boys race, the Hornets’ Conor Fisher finished second overall, 10 seconds behind the winner. Teammates Tyler Finck (6th), Ryan Fach (7th), Richard Will (10th) and Connor Miller (12th) rounded out the Hornets’ top five at the meet.
