Henritzy breaks rushing mark, K-Kids roll Eastburg South

For the Northampton football team, it is a matter of not being complacent. When you register four consecutive shutouts, it may be hard to imagine.

The Konkrete Kids (4-1) again dominated on both sides of the ball in a 48-0 shutout of East Stroudsburg South Friday. They allowed East Stroudsburg South a paltry 72 yards of total offense, and Northampton rushed for 347 yards. In the previous three weeks, their defense has allowed 101 yards, 50 (Stroudsburg), and 44 (Pocono Mountain East).

In the process, they have outscored their opponents, 201-17 in their first five games. Running back Caden Henritzy rushed for 162 yards on 12 carries with two touchdowns, and he also broke the school’s rushing record of 2,727 previously held by Tyrese Brandon (2016-19)

“Our offensive line was dominant again in putting up over 350 rushing yards,” said Kids’ head coach John Toman. “Special teams dominated all night in field position and scoring on a blocked punt.

“Defense was dominant again. All in all, it was a great team effort. Caden Henritzy had a big night, breaking the school rushing record.

“We have been playing solid all around.”

Despite their dominance, Henritzy knew his club can’t take anything for granted.

“We can’t let ourselves get too comfortable,” he said. “I don’t believe we will get complacent. We just have to keep doing our thing at practice and keep the same focus no matter who the team is in front of us.

“We have to take it one week at a time and control what we can control. As a team, we have to keep getting better every day.”

The Kids will travel to meet winless Allen (0-5) Friday night. The Canaries are coming off a 49-14 loss to Pocono Mountain West.

“Allen is what it is,” noted Toman. “We will focus on basics all week and playing mistake-free football against Allen.”

Henritzy had a special night breaking Brandon’s record, as the former Kid was in attendance for his current teammate against East Stroudsburg South. He has rushed for 484 yards with eight touchdowns for the season.

“It was good and a special experience,” said Henritzy about the record. “I’m glad that Tyrese came back to watch me break his record. I’ve had the privilege to run behind some great linemen over the years.

“This is an accomplishment that I couldn’t have done alone. It was a truly special night, and one that I will remember forever.”
