Winifred “Winnie” J. Markwich, 98, of Allentown and formerly of Center Valley, died Sept. 23, 2023, at Parkland Manor, Allentown. She was the wife of the late Robert P. Markwich for 66 years.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Clarence F. and Ruth C. (Hummel) Schafer, formerly of Cementon.
She was a William Allen High School graduate. She earned a reflexology certification.
She was a switch board operator and then an information operator with Bell Telephone for many years. She was an executive secretary for Mack Trucks, Allentown, and ended her career at Lehigh Structural Steel, Allentown, in 1989.
She is survived by a daughter, Patrice S. and her husband William Strohl of Cherryville; a son, Todd D. and partner Joanne Hamlin of Greencastle; two granddaughters, Stephanie (Lilly) and her husband Charles Powell of Whitehall and Nadine (Lilly) and her husband Andy Rinehimer of Alburtis; a great-grandson, Hunter of Whitehall; nieces; and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Lamar and George.
There will be a calling hour 1-2 p.m., followed by a funeral service 2 p.m., Sept. 30 at the funeral home, 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton, 18067.
