Resident complains about pickleball courts

During the Sept. 21 Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting, a resident spoke about placement of pickleball courts. These courts are placed at courts where tennis was played in some cases.

Residents are complaining because certain people like to play tennis and now their courts have been redesigned for pickleball. Commissioners President Brian Higgins explained pickleball courts tend to get noisy, prompting area residents to complain about the noise. Therefore, pickleball courts are created in areas of lesser population to eliminate the noise factor.

A sewer planning module was approved for the subdivision at 2072 Elbow Lane. This is a two lot habitable project approved at the last board of commissioners meeting.

An ordinance will be created to recreate the official map. This is due to the land acquired for preservation.

There is also an ordinance being created for revisions in stormwater management. This is critical when developments are being created for flooding potential.

Budget workshops are scheduled for Oct. 12, Oct. 16 and, if needed, Oct. 23.

A topic of interest are items for public works – some of which can be expensive. Discussions will be held as to potentially purchasing second hand.
