Coplay: Coplay Garden Club will meet Sept. 28

Coplay Garden Club meets 7 p.m. the last Thursday of the month in the social hall at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St. This month’s meeting is Sept. 28.

A tip of the month: “Begin now preparing your soil with mulch and other nutrients for the 2024 growing season.”

Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., Friday night concerts are winding down. The rest of the lineup includes Stereotype Sept. 29 and the Castaways Oct. 6.

The doors and kitchen open 5 p.m. Bands perform 6-10 p.m.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St., will hold a blessing of the animals service in the church parking lot Oct. 1, starting 2 p.m.

Coplay Saengerbund will be holding its Weinlesefest (grape dance) 3-6 p.m. Oct. 15. There will be a special selection of wines, delicious food, wine-themed singalongs, door prizes and great music. Entertainment will be provided by the Emil Schanta Band.

Wear your German outfits, such as dirndl, lederhosen, vests, hats, etc.

There is a cost.

Organizers of the Wednesday night summer concert series thank all who attended this season’s concerts. Plans are already being made for an exciting 2024 season.

Explorer Post 101’s mission is to promote interest in the hobby of model railroading to 12- to 21-year-olds. Meetings are 7-9 p.m. every Thursday on the second floor of the municipal building, 98 S. Fourth St.

Coplay Senior Citizens meets 1 p.m. first and third Wednesdays at the Coplay Fire Hall building, 165 Cherry St. Doors open noon. Membership is open to all Lehigh Valley seniors.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.
