Public Library of Catasauqua hosted an author visit Sept. 14 at the 302 Bridge St. site. North Catasauqua resident Brandi Brandt read from her book, “Herbie the Love Bug.”
The book features Herbie, a long-haired dachshund, and tells his story of adoption and adjusting to a new family. To soak up some of the spotlight, the real Herbie attended the event, dressed in his best bow tie.
After hearing the story, children were encouraged to make their own Herbie with craft materials provided by the author.
This is Brandt’s first published book. She got the idea to write a children’s book when she was invited to a baby shower where all the guests were asked to bring a book for the baby. Brandt wrote the first copy of “Herbie the Love Bug” and gifted it to the baby.
Everyone loved it, and she then had it published.
Brandt lives with her family, including several other pets, in North Catasauqua. Herbie is now 14 months old.
“Herbie the Love Bug” is available on Amazon.
