NORTHSIDE ALIVE SCHOOL SUPPLIES DRIVE: Northside Alive will be collecting school supplies at its Yoga in the Park events. The Yoga Loft of Bethlehem will hold free morning yoga sessions at Johnston Park. If staying for yoga, please bring a mat, towel and water bottle. During the sessions, you can drop off the following items for donation to schools in our community: Black Expo Dry Erase Markers, #2 Pencils, Plain Pocket Folders, Crayons, Colored Pencils, Pencil Erasers, Tissues, Hand Sanitizer, Headphones. Next session will be Oct. 21, from 10 to 11 a.m.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Camryn Greaves is in second grade at Thomas Jefferson ES. Camryn is a leader. She is kind, generous, motivated, determined and willing to take risks. STAFF SPOTLIGHT: Jarrett Carnes is a hall monitor at Liberty HS. Carnes was an asset to our Fit for Life summer program. Carnes is also known for his work as the girls’ basketball coach. Thank you for always going above and beyond.

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: David Luchabeche, Liberty HS class of 2001. David is currently the regional vice president for Berks/Lehigh Members 1st Federal Credit Union.

HALF DAY, CLOSED DAY: All BASD schools will have a half day on Thursday, Oct. 5. High schools will dismiss at 11 a.m. Middle schools will dismiss at 11:30 a.m., and elementary schools will dismiss at noon. All BASD schools will be closed Monday, Oct. 9. Childcare and offices will be open.

FOOD DISTRIBUTION: On the second Saturday of each month, from 10 a.m. to noon, there will be a drive-through food distribution at Northeast MS, 1170 Fernwood St. The distribution is open to families of BASD students

BASD HISPANIC HERITAGE NIGHT: Broughgal MS Sept. 28 from to 8 p.m. Music, food, activities and much more. LANTA is offering free LANTA bus passes for BASD families to attend BASD’s Hispanic Heritage Night. First come, first served. Contact LANTA or visit the BASD Facebook page for QR code.

FRUIT/VEGETABLE DISTRIBUTION: BASD and the Bethlehem Food Co-op will offer free fresh fruits and vegetables at Thomas Jefferson ES Oct. 10 and Nov. 7 from 5 to 6 p.m.

SPRING GARDEN ES PANERA NIGHT: Panera at 3301 Bath Pike. Twenty percent of your purchase will go to the Spring Garden ES PTO. Oct. 12, 4-8 p.m.

CLOSED: No school for Students Oct. 9.

CHARTER ARTS HS

HISPANIC HERITAGE EVENT: Food, music, dancing, theater and special performances; noon to 4 p.m. with a special performance at 4:30 p.m., Sept. 30 at 321 East Third St.

NO SCHOOL: Charter Arts will be closed Oct. 9.

“THE BROKEN WINDOW”: Charter Arts Theatre will present Diane Wagner’s “The Broken Window” from Oct. 20 to 22. Visit charterarts.org for tickets and times.

MORAVIAN ACADEMY

FALL BREAK: All Moravian Academy schools will be closed Oct. 9 and 10 for fall break.

MORAVIAN COUNTRY FAIR: Moravian Academy is hosting the 2023 annual Country Fair Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Merle-Smith Campus from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will offer tons of fun for everyone, featuring Main Stage performers, food trucks, craft/market vendors, goat yoga (Preregistration required), escape rooms, rock climbing Wall, ice cream truck, Big Wheel racing, laser tag and more.

HOLY INFANCY SCHOOL

HALF DAY: Students will be dismissed at noon Friday, Sept. 29.

SCHOOL CLOSED: No school Monday, Oct. 9.
