Robert D. Garvin, 87, of Macungie, died at home, Aug. 21, 2023. Bob, as he was affectionately called, was the loving husband of the late Lulu Elizabeth Garvin and the late Barbara A. Garvin. He was the companion of Patricia (Pat) Herring for 26 years. Born in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Russell W. and Anna K. (Hughes) Garvin.

He graduated from McKeesport High School in 1954 and earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial management from Carnegie Mellon University in 1958.

During his career at Buckeye Pipeline, he acquired engineering licenses in several states and was promoted to director, Engineering & Construction. In addition to working at Buckeye, he bought and developed land in Lehigh and surrounding counties. After 38 years with Buckeye, he retired in 1997.

Following retirement, he and Pat traveled together in Europe, Mexico and the Caribbean. He was an avid golfer and an active member of the Buckeye Golf League. He was a very kind, giving person and would help anyone in need.

He is survived by his companion; daughter, Deborah K. Corby and her husband, Tim; stepsons, Terrence and Jeffery Neely and their wives, Susan and Virginia; son-in-law, Steven Weller; grandson, Cody Faust; sister, Cynthia Ward; sister-in-law, Margaret. He was predeceased by a daughter, Marie L. Weller; grandson, Robby Faust; brothers, James and William; sister-in-law, James’ wife, Anne.
