Public Library of Catasauqua: Library savings
I saw this headline recently: “Mesa, Arizona, woman saves $65K at her local library.” How did this happen? Has her library opened a bank? No! Let’s check out this statement. How many times do you buy a book and read it only once? Some people even purchase books and never read them.
A post by Randy Crawford has him admitting to reading about 5% of books he bought: “For some reason, I have a great passion for shopping for and buying books but not reading them. It must be a shiny-object-attracting-the-crow kind of thing. Or maybe I just want to live surrounded by a whirlwind of ideas, which remain tantalizing worlds of possibility.”
In a Sept. 16, 2015, National Post survey, only 60% of books purchased are ever opened. You can save that money by borrowing books from your local library. Would you like to read the latest bestsellers? We have them here. Would you like to read a great nonfiction book? If we don’t have it here, we can have it delivered here for you within a few days. Your library is in touch electronically with 12 local libraries, as well as the 470 libraries in Pennsylvania. Just think how many resources that amounts to - around 7.8 million items.
How much can you save? Can you beat the Arizona woman?
