Dolores M. Heleva

Dolores M. Heleva, 84, of North Whitehall Township, died Sept. 17, 2023, in Fellowship Manor, Whitehall.

She was the wife of the late Arthur J. Heleva.

Born Aug. 19, 1939, in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Louis J. and Hilda I. (Eichner) Novak.

She earned her undergraduate degree from Muhlenberg College and her Master’s degree from Middlebury Language School.

After graduation, she lived in France to further her language education.

Upon returning to the U.S., she taught language in the Scotch Plains, N.J. School District until marrying her husband of 40 years.

She substituted with the Whitehall-Coplay School District while raising her family.

She dedicated her life to raising their children and spending time with family. She loved gathering the family together for Sunday dinners after church, and enjoyed gardening, crafting, taking in shows, getting together with friends, and traveling.

She was a member of Egypt Community Church, Whitehall.

Her survivors include children Scott A. Heleva and his wife, Valerie, of Schnecksville, Todd J. Heleva of Northampton, Daniel A. Heleva of Frackville, Deniece A. Knauss and her husband, Lee, of Davidson, Md.; brother Robert L. Novak and his wife, Carole, of Fogelsville; grandchildren Hailey, Hazel, Kiera, Jesse, Brooke, and Heather; great-grandsons Daniel and Alex; and grandpuppies Doc and Chloe.

She was predeceased by siblings Louis C. and Richard J. Novak and Barbara A. Heffelfinger.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Sept. 23 in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with the Rev. Dr. J. Bradley Roth officiating.

Family and friends may pay their respects from 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Interment will follow the service at Grandview Cemetery, South Whitehall.
