At the Sept. 12 regular Coplay Borough Council meeting, council approved the 2024 minimum municipal obligation for the nonuniformed employees’ defined contribution plan, the nonuniformed employees’ money purchase plan and the pension plan.
Regarding the borough police department, council voted and approved to accept the resignation of Officer Quentin Knecht. A motion was made to hire two 32-hour part-time officers, and that motion was approved. The two new officers are Juan Araujo and Christine Trauger.
Approval was granted by council to make a $500 donation to Meals on Wheels of the Greater Lehigh Valley.
Councilmember Janet Eisenhauer, Coplay Public Library liaison, noted the new doors for the library will be installed before the end of October.
Councilmember Charles Sodl asked if council could be provided with a summary of the operations conducted at the borough pool for the summer. Councilmember Mark Molitoris, parks and recreation lead, indicated the summary will be available by October.
Council unanimously approved the Halloween parade date of 7 p.m. Oct. 17. There will be no rain date for this event.
Additionally, trick or treat was approved to be held in the borough 6-8 p.m. Oct. 27. The rain date is 6-8 p.m. Oct. 28.
Gary Colatta was approved for appointment to the borough planning commission for a term of three years.
The next council meeting, a workshop, will be held 7 p.m. Oct. 3 in borough hall, 98 S. Fourth St.
