Brooke R. Hartman Jr., 90, of Macungie, died Sept. 3, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Carole C. (Clark) Hartman for 45 years until her death in 1999. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Brooke and Martha (McQuilkin) Hartman Sr.

He graduated from Lehigh University in 1954.

He worked for PPL for 51 years, retiring in 1995 as the manager of financial reporting.

He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Allentown, teaching the College and Career class and the adult men’s Sunday School class for over 50 years and serving as chairman of the board of trustees for over 30 years.

He was the finance chairman at Millbrook Chase where he lived. He was a member of the board of directors and a volunteer management consultant for the Executive Service Corps of the Lehigh Valley. He spent many Saturdays preparing tax returns as a volunteer for retired persons. He enjoyed travel, reading and attending live musical events including those at Lehigh Zoellner Arts Center.

He is survived by his companion of 23 years, Pat Helfrich; sons, Brooke R. III and his wife Susan, of Parker, Colo., Jeffrey S. and his wife Chris, of Lancaster; sisters, Kathy and her husband, Robin Walbert, Jan Wilson; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by a brother, Terrance, in 2012.
