Whitehall man gifted TPA pin, license plate for 50-year service

Donald and Diane Schwartz, president and community chairwoman, respectively, with Travelers Protective Association-Post L, Lehigh Valley chapter, hosted the annual TPA picnic Aug. 20 on a beautiful day at their home in the rolling hills of Northampton County.

The group has been holding an annual gathering for many years, noted Patricia Palencar, secretary of the local TPA organization. Palencar has been a member for decades and is a go-to person in the group.

The gathering included food, refreshments and a raffle. Bingo was also played. There was recognition of two members who celebrated their 50th anniversary serving the TPA.

Dale Wehr, of Whitehall, and Henry Laubach Jr., of Emmaus, received their TPA 50 years of service pins and a license plate, awarded to them by Donald Schwartz.

Friendship, fellowship and goodwill were present in abundance at the picnic. There was a genuine sense of togetherness among attendees who, by virtue of their membership in the TPA, understand the importance of providing service to others.

“Our organization has led the charge for societal changes that protect the health, safety and well-being of children,” Palencar said, regarding the TPA goals.

The TPA focus is on aiding people, particularly children, with hearing challenges and needs.
