Coplay Public Library: Best wishes to the retiring director

The Coplay Public Library’s interim director, Sharon Dougherty, will be retiring, effective Sept. 15.

Join us in wishing her a happy and healthy retirement!

Preschool storytime and activity time is set for 10:30 a.m. Sept. 15 and 29. Preregistration is not required.

Stop by the library for free movie Saturdays. Movies start 1 p.m.

The movies include “Clue” Sept. 16, “Chronicles of Narnia” Sept. 23 and “Seven Years in Tibet” Sept. 30.

Feel free to bring your own snacks.

The library’s crochet class meets 1 p.m. Wednesdays.

If you want to learn to crochet, just pick up some tips, or if you do other needle work, join us for a fun and instructive hour.

We are also accepting donations of yarn.

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month. All you need is a form of ID, like a driver’s license, to get a library card. If you already have a card, stop in at Coplay Public Library to update your information.

Everyone will receive a special treat, while supplies last.

The library’s fall book and bake sale is planned for 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 6 and 7.

Thousands of books, DVDs, CDs and puzzles are looking for a good home!

Baked good donations are also accepted and appreciated.

Shopping passes for Boscov’s Friends Helping Friends fundraising event are here. There is a cost for the pass, which you can use Oct. 18, and 100% of this donation goes to the library. The pass gives you a 25% discount on your in-store purchases (exclusions apply).

You will also be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $100 Boscov’s gift card.

The library is helping the borough’s parks and recreation committee with a fundraiser for Coplay Community Days by selling lottery calendars for the month of December.

Your $5 donation will help support the annual event and gives you 30 chances to win.

If you need ideas for a vacation or day trip, stop by the library and browse our collection of travel brochures.

They have up-to-date information on places to visit in Pennsylvania and several other eastern U.S. states.

Have any gently read books or working DVDs or CDs you would like to donate to the library? You do not have to wait until our fall or spring book sales to donate to them. Donations are accepted all year.

For your safety, drop off your donations at the circulation desk when we are open.

Need to use a computer to search for information or print something? We have six public access computers for you to use. You just need to show your library card at the front desk when you come into the library.

If you do not have a library card, it only takes a few minutes to get one.

Library cards are free and may be used at 12 libraries in Lehigh and Carbon counties.

The library hours are 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
