Board members recognized by PSBA

Superintendent Dr. Jack Silva and PSBA representative Colin Dempsey recognized school board members Dr. Karen Beck-Pooley, Dr. Dean Donaher and Mrs. Shannon Patrick, with Certificates of Appreciation Aug. 28, officially adding each of them to the Pennsylvania School Board Association “Honor Roll” of School Board Service.

PSBA is the association of and for public school leaders, advancing excellence in education through training, vital services as well as powerful advocacy. It is a nonprofit, membership-based organization that is not a regulatory entity.

High school student representatives for the 2023-24 school year are Margaret Marshaleck from Freedom and Grace Daja from Liberty. Each presented the first report of their tenure.

Regarding other regular board business, all prior minutes and recommendations of the administration were approved. All committee items are discussed in great detail at committee meetings so as to confidently present the final recommendation to the board for final approval and vote.

Dr. Silva noted that Rick Amato has been hired as the new supervisor of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program. The board also acknowledged the timely completion of all summer facilities projects.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Sept. 25.
