BETHLEHEM social calendar 9-13

BLOOM FOR WOMEN BENEFIT: Bloom for Women, a faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing sanctuary and care for women survivors of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation, is hosting a benefit dinner at the Saucon Valley Country Club Oct. 4.

The event will feature keynote speaker Hanni Stoklosa, MD, MPH, chief medical officer and Co-Founder of HEAL Trafficking, an organization that works to end human trafficking and support survivors.

The benefit dinner aims to raise awareness and funds for Bloom for Women’s mission to heal, empower and employ women survivors of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation.

The benefit dinner’s key message is FREEDOM, and Bloom for Women hopes to raise awareness and funds to support survivors in their journey toward healing and independence. The event is open to the public, and tickets can be purchased on Bloom for Women’s website.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS FUNDRAISER: Special Olympics Pennsylvania - Greater Lehigh Valley Pocono Region’s newest team fundraising event is coming in for landing at the Lehigh Valley International Airport. The Lehigh Valley Plane Pull, presented by Sheetz, will take place Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Lehigh Valley Plane Pull combines fundraising with a fun competition to see which team of 25 can pull a FedEx Airbus 300 airplane, which weighs 175,000 pounds, a distance of 12 feet the fastest.?The winning participants will be named the strongest team in the Lehigh Valley! The funds raised at this event help ensure that athletes in the Greater Lehigh Valley Pocono Region have access to year-round sports, health and leadership programming free of charge.

Registration for the event is currently open – so create your team, invite your friends to join, fundraise and get ready to pull that plane. Teams are encouraged to register by Sept. 22. Registration details and event guidelines can be found at www.lvplanepull.org.

CARS & COFFEE: Cars & Coffee series at SteelStacks, presented by Koch Automotive Group, will be presented one Sunday each month through September, with the diverse themes of American Muscle, European and Japanese vehicles. The Grand Finale is on Sept. 17. Cars & Coffee encourages car enthusiasts from throughout the region to come together for a fun-filled morning featuring a variety of vehicles of all makes and models. The series typically draws more than 20,000 visitors throughout the year. All events will be held from 9 a.m. to noon.
