Bethlehem Catholic girls’ basketball coach Jose Medina officially resigned.
The two-time state champion coach is stepping away after nine seasons at the helm of the program for family reasons.
“After careful thought and reflection, coach Medina has decided to resign as girls’ basketball coach after nine seasons in order to spend more time with his family,” said athletic director Chris Domyan. “In his time here at Bethlehem Catholic, Jose led our girls’ basketball program with energy, passion, and a relentless commitment to excellence. Bethlehem Catholic will be forever grateful for his contributions to our school community, and we will miss him tremendously. I’m sure that if he decides to coach again in the future, he will be incredibly successful wherever he lands. Jose is a dear friend of mine and I wish him the best as he moves forward.”
Medina walks away with a 204-49 career record at Becahi, winning seven conference champions and eight district titles. His teams won state titles during the 2016-2017 and 2018-2019 seasons.
The Hawks went 19-10 last season, winning the District 11 5A championship and reaching the state quarterfinals before falling to Bayard Rustin.
