The fall festivals are beginning! I’ll highlight a local festival here every other week.
Grim’s Orchard and Family Farm’s festival runs Sept. 9 to Oct. 29. Located at 9875 Schantz Road, Breinigsville, they have a corn maze, pick-your-own pumpkins and apples, a hayride and lots of fall flavored treats.
Township school picture days are as follows: Salisbury Middle School - Sept. 7. Salisbury High School - Sept. 12 and Salisbury Elementary School - Sept. 18.
SES T-shirt days this month are Sept. 8, 15, 22 and 29. Make sure your student wears either his new red school T-shirt or anything Salisbury (last year’s T-shirt, a Salisbury sports shirt, etc.)
Sept. 7 is open house for grades 1 to 4 at SES. Parents and guardians are invited to school 7-8:15 p.m. to meet teachers and find out what your student will be learning this year.
There is a curriculum meeting 7 p.m. Sept. 13, immediately followed by a school board meeting 8 p.m. in the administration building.
There were some revisions to the school calendar recently. An early dismissal day scheduled for Sept. 15, has been moved to Oct. 13 and the day before Thanksgiving, Nov. 22, has been changed from a half day to an entire day off. Because of that last change, a day has been added to the end of the school year. Now the last day of school, barring any snow days, will be June 6, 2024.
Here is a last reminder to see AM Radio Tribute Band at Franko Park 4 p.m. Sept. 9. Enjoy all your favorite hit songs from the 1960s and 1970s, and the show is free. Bring a blanket or lawn chair or sit in the grass.
Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church will host the Pioneer Band for a concert on the stage (weather permitting) at 1 p.m. Sept. 17. Ice cream and door prizes will be provided by the festival committee.
The Salisbury Yard Waste Drop-off sites will open for the season. The Franko site will be open Sept. 7, 9 and 18. Devonshire will be open Sept. 11, 14 and 16. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
