EHS names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. The 2023-2024 school year will be my last in the East Penn School District as I will be a senior at Emmaus High School.

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My parents are Joanne Wormald and Martin Cole. I have one younger sister, Zoe Cole who will be entering eighth grade. We have quite a few pets in our house because my mom fosters for a few rescue organizations. Our main pets include two whippets called Summer and Rufus and my hamster named Keiko.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. I am hoping at the end of this school year, genetics and microbiology will have been my favorite subject. This is because I really enjoyed the genetics part of my biology class in sophomore year.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I have received Principal’s Honor Roll every academic year in high school and I am a member of National Honor Society as well as the Latin Honor Society.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?

A. I try to increase my extracurricular activities in and out of school every year. I have continued to be involved in the Emmaus High School marching band and have played the saxophone for eight years now. I am a member of the youth council and spent a number of hours throughout the year on various community projects. I am also a member of a number of high school clubs and worked all summer as a lifeguard. I find these clubs and experiences have broadened my mind and help me to participate in activities I would not have normally done.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. My biggest challenge to date has been achieving my black sash in Kung Fu. It took many years to accomplish, I even stopped Kung Fu for a while during COVID-19 but decided to come back to finish what I started.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. After high school I would like to go to college to major in molecular biology and minor in art history.

Q. Whom do you hope to emulate? Why?

A. While there have been many people in my life I have looked up to and admired for one reason or another, in the end I hope to be my own person and live up to my own ideals to become a better version of myself.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered for my unwavering love of ice cream.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. If anyone reading this wants my advice it would be, to be tolerant of other people and provide support when needed, even if its just listening.
