Bath Borough officials celebrated the fifth annual Pennsylvania Park and Recreation Professional Day July 21 by honoring the work done by Bath Borough’s Public Works Department. The celebration occurred in the public works garage.
This year’s celebration included a Good Gratitude Campaign that invited local citizens and community leaders to meet and share the reasons they love their local parks and to express gratitude toward the borough public works staff who labor to keep the park and recreation facilities clean, safe and inviting.
“The borough of Bath has a great public works crew that attends to our parks,” Bath Borough Councilman Jim Lisiecki said.
Lisiecki was reportedly instrumental in developing the celebration, which was held 11 a.m.-2 p.m. July 21. Sandwiches and refreshments were available for those who attended.
Lisiecki said, during the first six months of 2023, the public works crew completed a number of street crack-sealing efforts, park maintenance and in-house equipment repairs, saving the borough thousands of dollars. They are constantly cutting grass, removing weeds, street sweeping and maintaining storm sewers.
The crew received accolades for their dedication and teamwork.
The third Friday of July is the day Pennsylvania asks municipalities to thank their public works staff and recreation professionals employed for their efforts and to raise awareness of what is being done by dedicated municipality staff to improve the quality of life in communities.
Bath Mayor Fiorella Reginelli-Mirabito lamented missing the event as she was attending the Pennsylvania State Mayors Conference in Lancaster. She wished everyone a fun day at the celebration.
