Moore Township: Group sets concert for Sept. 8

The Moore Township Community Days committee has scheduled a Sept. 8 concert, with the Barons performing from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The township land and environmental protection board will have an open house at the recreation center pavilion, 635 English Road, 7-9 p.m. Sept. 11. A presentation by the Heritage Foundation is planned.

The protection board successfully works to preserve farmland and open space to keep the rural nature and beauty of the township.

The township historical commission’s next meeting will be 7 p.m. Sept. 26 at the township municipal building, 2491 Community Drive.

In other news, the commission will hold its annual Octoberfest event Oct. 12, beginning 5 p.m., at Klecknersville Rangers Volunteer Fire Company, 2718 Mountain View Drive.

Klecknersville fire company is planning a dinner dance Sept. 30, Doors open 5 p.m., and dinner will be served between 5:30 and 7 p.m. Music entertainment is by Desire from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

It is a chicken dinner, with potato, vegetable salad, roll and dessert. Beer, wine and soda are included in the ticket cost.

The cost of a ticket is cheaper when purchased in advance.

In another fire company announcement, bingo is played every Tuesday, starting 7 p.m., in the social hall. Prizes, progressive jackpot, rob the piggy bank and wash line bingo are also part of the event.

Emmanuel’s Lutheran Church, 3175 Valley View Drive, celebrates its 300th anniversary this year. Emmanuel’s was founded in 1723.

Other notable events in 1723 - Ben Franklin arrived in Philadelphia at the age of 17; the fire extinguisher was invented in England; and empires ran much of the world, including Colonial America and Moore Township.

Also, Pastor Rachel Ziese Hacker welcomes everyone to the church. If you cannot attend a Sunday or other service, you can call 610-477-0100 to listen to any of the services. Call in during the service time to listen to a current service.
