Michael “Sonny” Motsko Jr., 92, of Whitehall, died Aug. 24, 2023, at home. He was the husband of the late Anna C. “Bubbie” (Csencsits).
Born in Cementon, he was a son of the late Michael Sr. and Mary (Felchok) Motsko.
He was in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict in the special intelligence division at Arlington Hall and the Pentagon with the F.B.I. and C.I.A.
He was a mechanic and inspector at Mack Trucks for 25 years. After he retired, he drove school bus for Whitehall-Coplay School District.
He was a member of Queenship of Mary Church, Northampton.
He was a member of Northampton VFW Post 4714, Catholic War Veterans Post 454 and Cementon Playground Association.
He is survived by a daughter, Toni Shoemaker and husband Bryan; three sons, James and wife Stephanie, Matt and wife Michelle and Mark and companion Catherine; eight grandchildren, Justin, Kara, Jamie, Jeremy, Devin, Melissa, Madison and Matthew; a brother, Ronald; and a sister, Jean.
He was predeceased by a brother, Robert; and a sister, Margaret.
There will be a visitation 6-8 p.m. Aug. 31 at the funeral home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton, and 9:15-10:15 a.m. Sept. 1 at the church, 1324 Newport Ave., Northampton. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow 10:30 a.m. Sept. 1, also at the church.
Contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
