Leon J. Hemperly, 96, formerly of Emmaus, died Aug. 21, 2023, at Fellowship Manor, Whitehall. He was the husband of the late Barbara T. (Thomas) Hemperly, who died Oct. 12, 2022. Born in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Harry and Lena (Royer) Hemperly.
He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Emmaus and was an Army World War II veteran.
He retired as a tooling engineer from Mack Trucks and previously worked for Air Products and Chemicals.
He is survived by sons, Bryan, Craig and his wife, Erika; daughters, Jan and her husband, Daniel Strobel, Susan and her husband, Michael Mitchell; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters, Marguerite Light, Arlene Lear, Rita Ebersol, Anna Mae Deitzler.
