Egypt/Cementon: Regular worship services resume

Plan ahead for upcoming schedule changes and events at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 4331 Main St., Egypt. The 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. worship services resume Sept. 3.

Sunday school classes will be held 9-10 a.m., beginning Sept. 10. To register your child for Sunday school, go to sothlc-egypt.org/wp/sunday-school and complete the linked form.

The annual Blessing of the Animals service is 10:15 a.m. Sept. 10 on the church’s front lawn. It it rains, the service will be held in the fellowship hall.

All animals must be leashed, harnessed, bridled or crated.

Egypt Memorial Park has extended the registration deadline for baseball and softball for the fall 2023 season through 4 p.m. Sept. 7. Register children ages 5-18 at egyptpark.org.

The park is seeking two volunteer co-directors for its youth field hockey program.

Knights of Columbus Council 4050 is having a takeout chicken dinner 4-6 p.m. Sept. 9 at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 4102 S. Church St., Egypt. The meal includes half of a roasted chicken, baked potato, coleslaw, roll and butter.

There is a cost. Proceeds will be used for the council’s charitable donations.

Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church will host a children’s new fall and winter clothing sale 4-6:30 p.m. Sept. 9 and from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 10 in the parish hall.

Laurel Fire Company, 5114 Third St., Cementon, has scheduled a breakfast for Sept. 10. From 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., enjoy scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, French toast, hash browns and beverages.

There is a cost.

In addition, a basket raffle will be held at the fire company 5-10 p.m. Sept. 15, 9 a.m.-noon Sept. 16 and noon-3 p.m. Sept. 17. Winners will be notified; you need not be present to win.

Egypt Community Church, 4129 S. Church St., invites you to a pork and sauerkraut dinner, scheduled for 4-6:30 p.m. Sept. 16 in the fellowship hall building across from the church. Purchase tickets at the door the day of the dinner.

Takeout will be also available.

All proceeds support the church’s outreach mission ministries.
