September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month. All you need is a form of ID, like a driver’s license, to get a library card. If you already have a card, stop in at Coplay Public Library to update your information.

Everyone will receive a special treat, while supplies last.

Reminder: Stop by the library Aug. 31 to watch “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa.” The movie starts 1 p.m. Feel free to bring your own snacks.

Beginning in September, movies will be shown 1 p.m. Saturdays.

Coplay Public Library will be closed Sept. 2-4 in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

We will reopen 10 a.m. Sept. 5.

We will be holding a Vince’s Cheesesteaks fundraiser 3-7 p.m. Sept. 7 at Coplay Parkway. Baked goods will also be available.

Baked good donations are accepted and appreciated.

All proceeds benefit the library.

The library’s interim director, Sharon Dougherty, will be retiring, effective Sept. 15. Please join us in wishing her a happy and healthy retirement!

Preschool storytime and an activity time will be held 10:30 a.m. Sept. 15 and 29. Preregistration is not required.

Our fall book and bake sale is planned for 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 6 and 7. Thousands of books, DVDs, CDs and puzzles are here looking for a good home!

Shopping passes for Boscov’s Friends Helping Friends fundraising event are here. There is a cost for the pass, which you can use Oct. 18, and 100% of this donation goes to the library. The pass gives you a 25% discount on your in-store purchases (exclusions apply).

You will also be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $100 Boscov’s gift card.

Our crochet class continues to meet 1 p.m. Wednesdays. If you want to learn to crochet, just pick up some tips or you do other needle work, join us for a fun and instructive hour.

We are accepting donations of yarn .

If you need ideas for a vacation or day trip, stop by the library and browse our collection of travel brochures. They have up-to-date information on places to visit in Pennsylvania and several other eastern U.S. states.

Have any gently read books or working DVDs or CDs you would like to donate to the library? You do not have to wait until our fall or spring book sales to donate to them. Donations are accepted all year.

Need to use a computer to search for information or print something? We have six public access computers for you to use. You just need to show your library card at the front desk when you come into the library.

If you do not have a library card, it only takes a few minutes to get one.

Library cards are free and may be used at 12 libraries in Lehigh and Carbon counties.
