Scott Allen Smith

Scott Allen Smith, 68, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., formerly of Whitehall, died peacefully Aug. 16, 2023, in Halifax Hospice Care Center after a courageous fight against pancreatic cancer.

Born Oct. 23, 1954, in Allentown, he was the son of the late Walter J. and Mary P. (Kerr) Smith.

The loving husband of Jennifer L. (Jones) Smith, the couple shared 23 beautiful years of marriage.

A graduate of the Allentown Police Academy and Catasauqua High School, he began his career in law enforcement with the North Catasauqua Police Department and Lehigh University Police.

He then served as a patrol officer for the City of Bethlehem Police and continued his career with the South Whitehall Township Police Department.

Upon his retirement, he had completed more than 35 years in law enforcement.

Additionally, he spent several years as a volunteer firefighter and also retired from the Catasauqua School District after serving more than 25 years as a part-time school bus driver.

He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Police Le-Hampton Lodge 35.

Asbury United Methodist Church, South Whitehall, was his place of worship with his wife, a lifelong member.

His dream to move to Florida became a reality after successfully achieving his goals and aspirations in life.

He loved his family immeasurably, especially spending time with his sons and grandchildren who were precious to him.

He loved traveling to his home away from home in Vegas, singing Frank Sinatra songs, going to concerts with his wife, family poker nights, golfing with friends, and was an avid sports enthusiast.

To know him was to love him. He spent his life helping others. He would move mountains to help his family, friends and countless others through his work serving others.

He was a winner making the most of the life he was given. A life well lived, he will never be forgotten and will have a lasting influence on all the lives he touched and all who knew him.

He is now with our Lord and Savior, pain free, in the eternal peace of Heaven. It’s not goodbye, it is until we meet again.
