Ira G. Shade

Ira G. “Butch” Shade, 75, of Old Zionsville, died Aug. 15, 2023, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He and his wife, Carol A. (Lindaberry) Shade, were married 56 years.

Born Aug. 28, 1947, in Allentown, he was the son of the late David E. and Shirley A. (Steltz) Shade.

He worked in the maintenance department at Victaulic Company of America, formerly Kline Foundry, Alburtis, for more than 35 years before retiring in 2013.

An active volunteer firefighter, he was past chief and held various other positions of Upper Milford Western District No. 1 Old Zionsville Fire Company, a life member of Macungie Fire Company, and was a wildland firefighter and fire warden for many years.

In addition, he was a life member of Nimrod Rod and Gun Club and a member of Alburtis Rod and Gun Club and Upper Milford Field and Stream Association.

He enjoyed his lifelong hobby of hunting, touring on his motorcycle, and spending time with his family and friends at his cabin in Sullivan County.

He was a member of Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Old Zionsville.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a daughter, Lisa A. Beitler and her husband, David, of Fogelsville; son Wayne S. Shade and his wife, Diane, “Dee” of Zionsville; sister Catherine J. Bealer and her husband, Roger, of Kutztown; grandchildren Charissa, Nathan and Shiane; and great-granddaughter Arya.

He was predeceased by brother, Richard C. Shade.
